Why I do what I do:
Why be a photographer? I mean, I get being an insta-addict. Truly, I do, you just gotta show all your casual acquaintances how on fleek that piña colada is or how cute that cat is; god knows we need more cat pics online, but why spend an epoch framing a shot only to have to take an eternity more developing it, scanning it, and retouching it? Well, when it comes for my motivation for partaking in this madness is quite selfish: my memory is fallible. Not any more than yours, yet enough to render me unable to relive some beautiful instants in my life which I would rather keep untarnished. I take photographs so that I may remember how I felt at a particular time. Many think photos are self-contained snapshots, isolated instants, but that couldn't be further from the truth. The photographer had to get there to take the picture, the subject had a life both before and after sitting for their picture; photographs are road signs, I was here, so were you.
As to why I use film, the answer's simple, I am a hopeless romantic.

P.S.
Some of you may wonder: "What is Fallowthought?". Fallowthought is a fairy servant to an accomplished English magician in Susanna Clarke's masterpiece Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, it also happens to be the name of this little endeavour of mine. Why? No clue.
